KING AIR 200GTO

In 2007 Hawker Beechcraft announced production of the new King Air B200GT which offered the speed and climb rates of a new King Air 350 without the required type rating. This was accomplished by installing the new Pratt & Whitney PT6A-52 engines. The new engines combined the turbine section of the 1050shp PT6A-60A installed on the King Air 350 with the gearbox of the PT6A-42 engine from the King Air B200, allowing the engines to retain their 850shp rating. Depending on air temperature, the PT6A-42 engine of the King Air B200 can deliver maximum cruise power (around 285 kts) up to altitudes in the high teens. However, the new PT6A-52 engines can deliver maximum cruise performance (310+ kts) into the high 20s with significant climb improvement.

In 2008 an STC approval for the installation of the same PT6A-52 engines on the King Air 200 was approved. Labelled the Beechcraft Super King Air 200GTO. the aircraft boasts maximum cruise speeds of around 310+ kts with normal cruise speed of around 300 kts. The engines have a factory recommended overhaul interval (TBO) of 3600 hours.

Additional benefits:
King Air 200GTOs are typically lighter compared to the King Air B200GT, which translates to a lower empty weight and higher useful load. On average the greater useful load offers the ability to carry as much as a few hundred more pounds of fuel(offering greater range), baggage or passengers vs. the new King Air B200GT.Newer engines translate to lower operating costs. More powerful engines offer shorter take off distances, increased single engine climb and service ceiling.
